The government is set to reopen the property market and allow buyers and tenants to move home – at least in England.
An amendment to the current COVID-19health regulations published on Tuesday evening states that the following will apply from Wednesday 13 May: Buyers and renters will be able to visit estate or letting agents, developer sales offices and show homes. They will be able to view residential properties to buy or rent, and ultimately move home. Agents will be allowed to visit residential properties to undertake any activities required for their sale or rental. Full guidance is yet to be published, but it is likely that home movers and agents will be required to adhere to social distancing measures. Vendors and current tenants may also need to vacate the property during viewings. We will continue to update this article as more information becomes available, including rule changes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
